Bay Colony Homes for Sale in Virginia Beach

Bay Colony homes for sale

Here’s my guide to Bay Colony homes for sale in Virginia Beach.

Bay Colony is a secluded neighborhood, hidden behind the historic Cavalier Hotel and Princess Anne Country Club, between 43rd and 59th Street along Atlantic Avenue.  The Bay Colony Civic League says
The 620 homes are an eclectic mix of older ranch style houses, stately colonials and elegant waterfront mansions. Although just blocks from the oceanfront, the neighborhood is quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the summer crowds.
The beach is just a few blocks away,  First Landing State Park is a short bike ride away, and the streets gently wind their way through wooded lanes.  Many of the homes are waterfront, with views of Linkhorn Bay or Crystal Lake.
Bay Colony has a fascinating history that includes Spanish conquistadors, Chesapeake Indians, and eventually, rural settlements.  Read about its storied past here.

Bay Colony homes for sale offer fast access to the Atlantic Ocean, the Virginia Beach Oceanfront resort, bike paths, summer concerts, the hiking trails at First Landing State Park, and Shore Drive entertainments.  It is a few blocks away from I-264, and an easy commute to Fort Story, NAS Oceana, and Little Creek Amphibious Base.

Virginia Beach resort shopping,  Shore Drive amusements, Hilltop boutiques, Lynnhaven or Pembroke malls are all closeby.

Neighboring Communities

…include Cavalier Park, Linkhorn, the North End, and Princess Anne Hills.  Want specific news about the Bay Colony community?  There is an active Bay Colony Civic League with loads of helpful information.

Bay Colony is convenient to several local installations.  NAS Oceana, Fort Story, Dam Neck Annex, and Camp Pendleton are all within a fifteen minute drive; Little Creek is about 20 minutes away and Norfolk NOB is about 30-40 minutes away.

Bay Colony homes for sale are in the Cox High School District. Linkhorn Park Elementary School is closeby, and Virginia Beach Middle School is near the I-264 entrance at 22nd Street.  Local private schools like Cape Henry Collegiate, Norfolk Academy, or Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, are also options.

There are lots of waterfront properties in Bay Colony, and many of these offer deep water access to the Chesapeake Bay via Linkhorn Bay and Wolfsnare Creek.  It’s not uncommon for locals to travel by boat from their homes to local restaurants like Bubba’s, Dockside, or Chick’s Oyster Bar.
