Here is my community guide to East Beach in Norfolk.
East Beach is one of Norfolk’s most desirable communities. The East Beach neighborhood is on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay and features a tasteful variety of homes, including waterfront homes, townhomes, condos and Craftsman-style beach cottages.
The East Beach Community
East Beach was carved out of the historic Ocean View neighborhood in Norfolk, between the Chesapeake Bay and Pretty Lake.
As you walk through East Beach, you’ll see wide sidewalks for strolling, front porches filled with smiling neighbors, and a large community pool and clubhouse. It feels like its own small town.
Homes run the gamut of price ranges, from million dollar beach retreats all the way to condos, townhomes and Craftsman-style single family residences. It is ten minutes from the Norfolk airport and twenty minutes away from Downtown Norfolk or NOB.
East Beach offers lots of amenities, including neighborhood parks, wide open spaces, private beaches, and quick access to local marinas and shops.
There is fast access to I-264, but is also close to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront and the beaches along Shore Drive. It is an easy commute to NAS Oceana, Fort Story and Little Creek.
There are many shopping opportunities nearby. The closest stores are on Ocean View Avenue, but other opportunities include MacArthur Mall or the boutiques in Ghent or Downtown Norfolk. Groceries and specialty items can also be bought at JANAF, Broad Creek Crossing, or at Wards Corner. Haygood and Pembroke malls in Virginia Beach are also quickly accessible.
It is in the Lake Taylor High School District. Little Creek Elementary School is nearby, and Azalea Garden Middle School also serves the area. Private school options include Norfolk Academy, Cape Henry Collegiate, and Montessori schools.
The homes for sale here vary widely in price. As of this writing, the least expensive options are beautiful new construction condos available for $330,000, followed by a variety of townhomes, detached beach cottages, and ultimately waterfront homes for sale for $2,400,000.
2016 is predicted to be a big year for real estate in Hampton Roads – don’t miss out!
